Non Hybrid Seeds

Non Hybrid Seeds have never been as popular as they are today, but what exactly are they? They are seeds from plants that have been grown organically and have not been genetically modified or altered in any way. Hybrid seeds on the other hand are genetically modified organisms (GMO’s) that have been altered in a laboratory.

This is a very important distinction to be aware of for two reasons. The first is that plants grown from hybrid seeds are not able to reproduce. You can not save the seeds and plant again the following year. You become a slave to the seed company, having to repurchase seeds every year. This is not sustainable agriculture.

The second and most troubling reason is that plants grown from hybrid seeds can pose serious risks for the animals and humans that consume them. Seed companies have produced these new varieties and have marketed them to unsuspecting consumer without conducting research about the long term results. Research scientists in the healthcare community are releasing many findings documenting abnormalities and diseases that are linked to consumption of GMO’s and the results are quite alarming.

Non-Hybrid Seeds offer security

With mounting unemployment, stagnant wages and higher grocery prices, families are becoming more creative in ways to stretch the budget. Self sufficiency can be a comforting thought in economic distress and some are realizing that starting their own organic garden will go a long way in saving money.

Every day seems to bring another harbinger of bad news. In a matter of months "Hope And Change" has saddled generations with a national debt of nightmarish proportions. Americans are starting to wake up to the fact that we are not going to turn the economy around by spending more money than we have. The markets are being propped up with deficit spending, otherwise known as quantitative easing but it is only delaying the inevitable backlash which will be inflation, maybe even hyper-inflation.

Lack of accountability or consequences for politicians and government employees continues to weaken America’s ability to bounce back. All the while the private sector corporations are attacked at every opportunity. Can you say Gibson Guitar? Capitalists are deluged with character assignations about being corrupt and greedy as their taxation increases. An arrogant suit who has worked his whole life in government wants to convince me this is social justice? That’s not social justice, it’s social destruction! Why was is it many are now asking, that Bernie Madoff in prison - while Barney Frank is still walking around a free man and unaccountable for his role in the collapse of the real estate market?

Popular radio personality Glenn Beck tells listeners to consider starting a food pantry and to think about starting a victory garden. He talks about having food insurance, just in case . Gee, how radical and insane is that!
Well it’s not and I agree wholeheartedly. At least there a few people on the airwaves who are actually thinking and asking questions.

You know that times are tough and that it is likely to get worse before long. If you have ever thought about starting your own organic garden why not do it now? You may be blessed to be in a good position, but what about some of the people in your church or neighborhood? Wouldn't you like to be able to donate fresh produce to a local food pantry? What about helping those less fortunate learn to grow their own food without having to be dependent on taxpayer handouts? You can't do it until you have learned for yourself.

Think that starting an organic garden and saving food is silly? Here in Memphis, Tennessee a forecast offering the slightest possibility of snow will have the bread and milk cleared off the shelves in a matter of hours. People get scared, they start thinking what if?
I don’t know what would happen in our city if there ever was a real catastrophe, but I do know that my family would not go hungry.
After the earth quake in Chile this last year there were video reports of open looting in the streets within six hours. Not very comforting is it. Do you have an emergency supply of food?
